Data deletion

This page explains how users can request account deletion, what data is removed, what may remain anonymized, and the expected deletion timelines.

1. How to request deletion

In-app deletion

Users can delete their account from the app via Profile, Settings, and Delete Account, where available.

Email request

Users can also contact support@unera.app and request deletion of the Unera account and associated data. We may request verification information before processing the request.

2. What data is deleted

  • Personal profile data such as name, email, profile biography, nationality, interests, and languages.
  • University and Erasmus-related information.
  • Profile photos and uploaded images where applicable.
  • Account credentials, session data, and device-related account information.
  • Location details such as city or coordinates if previously provided.

3. What may remain anonymized

  • Messages may remain visible in chats for other users, but the sender is shown as "Deleted User".
  • Groups or events created by the user may remain if needed for other users, again without personal identification.
  • Some technical logs may remain temporarily for security, fraud prevention, or legal compliance, but only in anonymized form.

4. Retention timeline

  • Personal data is deleted immediately where possible or fully removed within 30 days.
  • Backups containing residual data are automatically overwritten within 90 days.

5. Irreversibility

  • Deleted accounts cannot be recovered.
  • Personal data is permanently removed.
  • Users who want to return must create a new account.
