Data deletion

This page explains how Unera users can delete their account, what data is removed, what may remain without identifying the user, and the expected deletion timelines.

1. How to delete your account

In-app deletion

You can delete your account from the app through Settings and Delete Account. The app may ask you to confirm because deletion is permanent.

Email request

You can also contact support@unera.app and request deletion of your Unera account and associated data. We may ask for verification information to confirm that the request comes from the account owner.

2. What is deleted or removed from active use

  • Account profile information such as name, surname, email, username, age, gender, nationality, bio, languages, interests, and university details.
  • Profile photos and uploaded profile images where technically available to delete.
  • Location data linked to your profile, including city or coordinates where stored.
  • Push notification tokens and notification preferences linked to your account.
  • Matches, interest requests, blocked-user entries, and profile discovery records where they are no longer needed.
  • Account authentication data or session data controlled by Unera, subject to provider processing times.

3. What may remain without identifying you

  • Messages may remain visible to other chat participants, but your account may appear as "Deleted User" or another non-identifying label.
  • Groups, events, RSVPs, or activity history may remain where needed for other users or platform continuity, without your personal profile details.
  • Aggregated gamification, analytics, or product statistics may remain if they no longer identify you.
  • Technical logs may remain temporarily for security, reliability, fraud prevention, debugging, or legal compliance.

4. Safety, moderation, and legal records

Some safety records may be retained for a limited period where necessary to protect users, investigate abuse, prevent repeat violations, respond to disputes, or comply with legal obligations. This may include reports, moderation actions, audit logs, and limited context needed to understand a serious report.

Where possible, we minimize or remove direct personal identifiers from records that no longer need to identify you.

5. Timeline

  • Active account deletion normally starts immediately after in-app confirmation or verified support request.
  • Most personal account data is removed or anonymized immediately or within 30 days.
  • Backup copies and residual technical records may take up to 90 days to expire.
  • Records kept for safety, legal, or dispute reasons may be retained longer where necessary and lawful.

6. After deletion

  • Deleted accounts cannot be recovered.
  • You may lose matches, messages, groups, events, profile photos, notification history, and gamification status.
  • If you want to use Unera again, you must create a new account and complete verification again.
  • Deleting the app from your device does not delete your account. Use the in-app deletion flow or contact support.

7. Contact
